How this site is written

If you're looking to know where the information on this site comes from before you rely on it, you're in the right place. Equity release is a decision you live with for the rest of your life, so you should know who stands behind every page. That's me.

Quick answer: who is responsible for what this site says?

I am. Every page comes from my own advice work, is checked against the sources it names, and goes live only after I've approved it. I'm Jeremy Furnell, on the FCA register as JLF01060, and Trusted Equity Release is a trading name of Pellucid Ltd, FRN 981845.

Where does the information come from?

Three places, and every page tells you which:

  • My own advice work. I've advised on equity release since qualifying in 2009, and the situations described on these pages are real ones from my own clients, with names, places and anything else that could identify them taken out.
  • The bodies that set the rules: the Financial Conduct Authority, the Equity Release Council, MoneyHelper and GOV.UK. Where a page states a rule, it links to the body that made it.
  • Published figures: lenders' own criteria and rates, the Equity Release Council's market reports, the Office for National Statistics and the FCA's own data. Every figure carries its source and its date.

How are client stories and reviews used?

Reviews are quoted exactly as they appear on Google, with the name each reviewer chose to show, spelling and all: one says "uptaded", and it stays that way. Client stories are real cases from my own files with the identifying details removed, and a family is named only when they've agreed to it, which is why most of the stories here don't carry a name. Nothing on this site is invented to make a point.

How often is it checked?

  • Interest rates: every month. The rates page shows the date I last checked the market.
  • Statistics: whenever the source publishes new figures. Each statistics page shows when it was updated and when the next refresh is due.
  • Advice pages: each shows the date I last reviewed it. A page without a date hasn't been re-reviewed since the site relaunched in September 2026.
  • Rule changes: when the Equity Release Council or the FCA changes a standard, I update the pages it touches.

What won't you find here?

  • Paid placements. No lender pays to appear on this site, and nothing here is sponsored. There's no advertising either: the site is paid for by my own business.
  • Named firms held up as bad. My page on equity release companies to avoid describes the warning signs and names no one.
  • Personal advice. These pages explain how equity release works. Advice for your circumstances comes from a conversation with me, followed by a written recommendation.
  • Your details taken quietly. The equity release calculator asks for your age and a rough property value, and nothing else.

Spotted something wrong?

Tell me. Call 07768 972861 or email jeremy@trustedequityrelease.co.uk, and if you're right I'll correct the page and update its review date. A complaint about my service goes through my complaints process instead, which also explains your right to go to the Financial Ombudsman Service.

FAQ

Is this website financial advice?

No. It explains how equity release works and what it involves, so you can ask better questions. Advice is personal: it comes from a conversation with me about your home, your age and your plans, and it's confirmed in a written recommendation before anything happens.

Are the reviews on this site real?

Yes. Every review quoted here is on my Google Business Profile, word for word, with the name the reviewer chose to show. The reviews page lists them all with my replies, and links to Google so you can check them yourself.

Why do some pages show a date?

Because equity release changes. Rates move every month, the Equity Release Council updates its standards, and published figures get revised. The date tells you how fresh a page is. If a page doesn't show one yet, I haven't re-reviewed it since the relaunch.
